What About Blogging?

Whaddup??
haha soooooo blogs are pretty cool. I'm a big fan of Perez Hilton. It's crazy how somebody just typing their thoughts on celebs can get so famous. He has an advertisement for Ugly Betty as his background today. One of the number one shows in America is paying to have Perez Hilton use their television show as their background. It's Nuts!
Maybe this PTW blog will make it big and we can advertise... haha
Anyway... I can't believe how out of control blogging has become and the fact that everybody seems to be connected on the internet creeps me out. Somebody across the world could be reading this post right now. Crazy...
I'm out for now...
word.

Breaking Through My Blogging Past

Hey Everyone,

So here's the scoop with my blogging past:

I used to blog way back in my high school days (7 years ago to be exact). I had a really bad experience because I used to disclose too much information and I was actually stalked by someone. This really got out of hand when that stalker ended up breaking into my house looking for me. No one got hurt and the guy was arrested. Needless to say, blogging has been on hold in my life--until now. (Thanks a lot PTW312 j/k)

I've learned my lesson about putting too much info out there for the internet audience, but I have no problem discussing my thoughts and passions. So don't worry, I'm not totally boring!

Peace out cub scouts. :-)

Blogging

Hi! This is Brian. I have a blog that I used to post to, but I stopped last year. I would usually only post about once a month, when I took trips or whatnot. I like more of a picture record rather than a text record, since when I don't really have a writing prompt I seem to ramble.

Nowadays it seems that I, as well as my friends post their pictures and such on Facebook, which makes it easier to follow what everybody's up to without searching for each blog individually.

If I were to blog everyday, it would probably get gunckled up with random stuff that matters one day, but probably doesn't matter as much so in the larger scheme of things. It might be good though to clarify my thoughts, sometimes with so much stuff clogging up the tubes, the little things get forgotten. Down the road, I want to be able to look back and think of my senior year as more than just the amount of work that I did, or the projects I worked on, and more of what I did on more of a day to day basis. When you get into the work cycle, going to class every day, and being busy with homework and project, the minutes seem to pass slowly, while the days whiz by.

I could probably start my old blog up again, the address is: http://shea513.blogspot.com

So, I don't have much experience with this whole blogging shindig, but recently I have been trying to create a blogging website for my father. It's called MayoBlog. It's for the people of Mayo(that's a county in Ireland) to tell the world about Mayo and for the people of the world to tell Mayo about the world. I've been working on it for about 4 months now and well, I must say, I haven't gotten past the homepage. Now, you might say "ELbow, what's wrong with you? Blogging is easy." And I will immediately retaliate, "Poppycock!" It's not as simple as one, two, three. You have to consider the template, the visual appeal...what will the audience think?! I try to think of other blogs that have caught my eye but it's hard when you're so new to the scene.

Also, I find it difficult to find time to work on setting up the blog which makes me a little wary about promising my father that I will be able to monitor and update it. Actually, I'm hoping that posting on this
blog will give me the incentive to continue working on Mayoblog and maybe even generate some ideas!

So here's to some productive posting!

Over and out, from the body part that you can't touch with your tongue!

blogging

I am co-author on a tech stuff/video games/everything else we find amusing blog. I don't post a lot because I get bored easily and always forget.
I write under the same name as here (eb). steve and admin also post. It is NOT a personal blog, except under special circumstances.
This is as far as I get with blogging...occasionally writing something that either especially interests me in relation to computer and associated gadgetry or out of guilt for not posting in a long time. To be honest most of this bores me, I would rather be reading about what interests me than writing. And all the competition in the blog world puts me off it as well. Especially with a tech blog, all the big blogs are able to attend press events and "liveblog" news conferences and things like that. All a couple college kids can do is take stories from blogs we read regularly and pass it on to our readers (who are now numbering in the 500's per day with over 8000 unique visitors each month).

Reunion Blogger

I first experienced blogging through a sneaker club and a car club. We created the blogs to post new sneakers that came out, new car parts, race listings, latest fashion, and new music mix tapes. We then began posting about Halo 3 screen shots for the past few months in anticipation for the game. I have only blogged for almost a year now. I did not start blogging till my freshman year of college when me and my friends from high school decided to create a blog to communicate with one another while we were away at school. It was cool because we were able to discuss all the new fashion, music, cars and games without having to talk to one another direct. We were able to do it on our free time and post what every we felt was important, and if you needed something from one another, we were able to post uploads of anything. It was a fun and interesting way to keep in touch and share files between us.

See how one car dominates another!!!!!!!

My experience with blogs is limited to Prof Highberg's class. I have never sought blogs or had a desire to write one. Initially this was because I had a negative impression of blogs; the notoriety of Live Journal lunacy is wide-spread. My opinion became more positive when I learned that the scope of blogging extends beyond attention grabbing; political, corporate, and scientific blogs are all legitimate sources of information, though it greatly depends on the author and purpose.

In terms of research, blogs are useful because it is a single perspective. Periodicals, wikis, reports, etc often lack opinion (or at least they are supposed to) and they may also be collaborative efforts. These texts are the tried and true sources for research, but I could also see the usefulness in gathering the honest and independent opinion of a diverse group of people.

Though my opinion of blogs sways between neutral and optimistic, I still do not read them. We all develop "e-habits"; when I want to purchase electronics I head to Amazon, when I want to check on the game I head over to espn.com, and when I am doing research I look for a primer on wikipedia and then head over to Lexus Nexus. Blogs were never integrated into my routine and I'm a stubborn creature of habit. Maybe one day.

Fall 2007

It's a new year with a new class. It's the same blog, though. Get ready for new postings.
